Old Trapper - East Section [Woodland Hills, CA]
Eastern entrance section of the Old Trapper's Lodge California Historical Landmark installation.
California Historical Landmark plaque reads:
Old Trapper's Lodge is one of California's remarkable Twentieth Century Folk Art Environments. It represents the life work of John Ehn (1897-1981), a self-taught artist who wished to pass on a sense of the Old West, derived from personal experiences, myths, and tall tales. From 1951 to 1981, using his family as models, and incorporating memorabilia, the 'Old Trapper' followed his dreams and visions to create the Lodge and its 'Boot Hill.'
California Registered Historical Landmark No 939
Plaque placed by the State Department of Parks and Recreation in cooperation with Saving and Preservation Arts and Cultural Environments, a non-profit educational corporation, March 25, 1985.

Traditional Stoner Graffiti - CSUN [Northridge, CA]
Nice to see that kids are still keeping some old timey graffiti traditions alive.
Felix the Cat and a pot leaf - secret and not so secret language...
for a blotto good time.

Post No Bills - CSUN [Northridge, CA]
...will prosecute...
I will be very disappointed if an enterprising young student doesn't
post something by the time I check again.

Sasquatch Co-opted [Serman Oaks, CA]
[Burbank Blvd & Coldwater Canyon Blvd]
I notice a sticker on the back of this van - it's a familiar outline -
"sasquatch" - can't mistake it.
I take a picture and get curious... I zoom into the picture.
I see that the sasquatch paradigm has been co-opted
by Outdoor Technology for a logo.
by Outdoor Technology for a logo.
Because when you're out in the woods, looking for a sasquatch or whatever -
you must - absolutely must -
have a bluetooth headset or speaker blaring something into your ears -
having to listen to nature would just be too much...
